Life is a DASH-

In a dash, how you start off can affect the entire race. But in the final analysis, it’s not how you start that matters--it’s how you finish.

When you die, the only thing that you will read on your tombstone between the time you were born and the time you die is a DASH.

LIFE IS A DASH

(Cassie Bernall 1981- 1999)

On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked calmly onto the Columbine High School campus in Littleton, Colorado and started opening fire on their classmates.

They walked into one classroom, where 17-year-old junior Cassie Bernall was seated with her fellow students. Eric asked the class if there was anyone there who believed in Christ. Cassie stood up to say, “Yes, I believe.” The last two words were drowned out by the gunfire that ended her life.

Cassie was a 17-year-old girl who lived life on purpose. It was a purpose that involved God and impacted others. Her death and her testimony catalyzed a nation.  She was just a junior in high school. She was just 17 years old. But she was someone who made her dash count.

It doesn’t matter how old you are. It doesn’t matter how young you are. It doesn’t matter how long your dash is, or how short. It doesn’t matter how much you cram into your dash, or how much you’ve left out. The only thing that matters is WHAT COMES OUT OF IT.

You only get one dash. Make your dash count. Live life on purpose--a purpose that involves God and impacts others both now, and for eternity.

If you would like to make your dash count, pray this with me:

"Dear Jesus, I give you my life to do whatever you want with it. I choose to let you lead me and guide me to live life for your purposes. Starting today, I know my life will never be the same. In Jesus' name, AMEN"

If you really meant that prayer with your heart, and are willing to exchange your lIfe for the one that GOD wants for you, then you are at the beginning of a beautiful journey in making your life count.

That if you confess WITH YOUR MOUTH, "Jesus is Lord," and believe IN YOUR HEART that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. -Rom 10:9
